Welcome to Upanishabd.com!

There’s no need to sermonise or pontificate why we are here, or why we want to be… what we ought to be, too. We are, quite simply, here, up on the Web, to make you feel a part of the world and lead a better life — to the extent possible.

But, the most important thing is we want to be different. In thought. In essence. In spirit.

Here we go… with the first of our Upanishabdic “meditations” — for we dare to be what we are, not what someone else wants us to be…

Albert Einstein’s landmark theory of relativity, juxtaposed by quantum theory, are two major branches of physics, yes. However, the portrait of physical reality that they offer appears quite ironic, despite the fact that both modern physics and cosmology perceive physical reality and the Universe in a frame as relevant and contextual as any that science itself espouses.

Take for instance, the wave-particle duality — a paradox that is central to either scaffold. Yet, they show interestingly definitive interference patterns, even when individual neutrons are bombarded sparingly.

What’s also strange is that any undertaking to determining which slit a neutron passes through razes the interference pattern, no less. The outcome? Most quantum physicists have given up the endeavour to form pictures of reality. They have also dropped attempts to form a full causal explanation of micro-physical phenomena, while being more comfortable dealing with accurate theoretical predictions of experimental results through conceptual mathematics.

Some physicists have produced a counter-interpretation — a space-time description of micro-events, including the possibility of a deeper understanding of physical reality. In other words — the motion of a particle is affected, not only by the usual classical potential, but also by quantum potential having dramatic effects on very small particles. Though this explanation is causal, it is not completely precise as it throws ajar the creative operations of underlying, and yet subtle, levels of reality.

Recent developments in cosmology have explained gravitation in the context of time-space continuum, all right. They have also provided for the possibility of a Universe rapidly expanding from an initial Big Bang, and then continuing its expansion indefinitely, or eventually, after billions of years, followed by a big crunch.

According to the theory of relativity, stars apparently disintegrate back into their own gravitational fields — a black hole, or a very small area, of extremely high density, incorporating a singularity with zero-volume. Gravitation is so intense that no light can escape from a black hole. Today, there’s definitive observational evidence for the existence of black holes[s]. Also, singularities — associated with the Big Bang and black holes — are primed as regions where space-time goes out of existence.

Not long ago, it was thought fanciful to surmise as to what had happened before the Big Bang. Not any more. Today, we are linking ideas from relativity and quantum theory. This has led to a new possibility — postulating theories like inflationary cosmology, which provide fairly plausible pictures of possible events that may have happened before the Big Bang. However, a huge challenge still remains — finding a true unification swivel for general relativity and quantum theory.

Interestingly, some theorists now aver that mind and matter, energy and consciousness, are intimately intertwined. They explain why the simple idea that the vacuum of empty space is actually a real energy field. Or, how all perceivable matter is formed, aside from various levels of manifestation, including the energy fields in which our thoughts and instincts exist.

This view is also acquiesced to by researchers, in conjunction with the exploration of vacuum itself — to bringing profound and fascinating technological changes, including virtually unlimited supplies of safe and cheap energy. The idea holds a remarkable premise — a unifying concept of the formative mind as the Universe’s hidden creation mechanism. Of a strategy that links energy, mind, and consciousness.

However, one major fact remains: it won’t surprise us, if in the future, our present view of the Universe would be seen as erroneous, and also a fable agreed upon. Consequently, it may also be apparent for us, or our future generations, to view the Universe as one distinct entity, where consciousness is the primary reality, with its physical structure being nothing more than an acquired prospect.
